Initial Update (7/15/25)
Hello all,
Thank you for joining me on this journey. For those who don’t know, my name is Noah and my goal is to bring more fun and activities to Falcon.
I have been a rock climber for a decade now, like any activity, there have been ups and downs (climbing pun not intended but appreciated) but no matter what has happened in my life, it has been something I find myself coming back too. It is always fun trying new routes, meeting new friends and seeing others work on their projects and reach their goals too. I am hoping to be able to bring that passion to the town I grew up in.
Me and my family moved to Colorado in 2010 and when we did, we settled down in Falcon. Growing up there was a bit of a challenge sometimes, especially in the summers where the closest thing to do was a 30+ minute drive out to Colorado Springs (which was extra rough for the middle school years and early high school when I couldn’t drive).
As a potential business owner, I am a little worried as I have never set out on such a venture before and so am unsure what it may take. Not to worry you readers, I have hired a consultant in the climbing industry that has decades worth of experience building gyms around the country (like the one featured here).
I am also eager and excited to see this come to life and see just what I can make with the help and support of the community.
Stay tuned for future updates and developments.
What is Climbing? (7/31/25)
Hello again,
For many of you, I bet there is a question like, “what is a climbing gym?” to which there is a simple answer and one that goes a little deeper.
The simple answer would be that a climbing gym is a place you can go that has weird walls at all sorts of different angles. Those walls in turn, have a bunch of plastic (or other materials) rocks attached in different paths leading somewhere else, most often up. Those rocks are normally color coded to each route with a start and a finish hold.
The goal is to go from the start hold/s and make it to wherever the finish is only using the color of the start and finish holds. Sounds simple, but depending on hold type and orientation, climbs can get complicated quickly.
The bit that goes deeper in climbing is where the community comes in. Sure, it is a fitness activity, but the communities around climbing are always welcoming and nurturing and understanding that everyone is at a different place and that everyone is there to improve themselves and climb some pretty colored rocks.
Every gym I have been to no matter where at, you sit down and start climbing and people are coming and going, trying routes around yours, maybe even trying yours. Most are good people who will talk with you, crack some jokes, help you sort out some beta (a certain way you may try to climb a path or route) and is all around a welcoming community.
This is the reason I keep coming back to climbing and that I hope to share it with all of you soon.
Thanks again and stay tuned for future development.
